This fabulous, CIRCUS Award winning independent pub chain know what their customers like when it comes to serving up the very best of gastropub food of all descriptions and certainly know how to make a darn good pie!
We've tried a couple of their pies - a superb Steak & Ale @ The Bull, Stony Stratford and the fantastic Fish Pie @ The Anchor, Aspley Guise and have got to say that these pub classics more than hit the spot on both occasions.
All their pies are homemade and you can tell that a lot of love goes into each and every one. The pastry is all homemade and the steak pie that we had was literally PACKED full of tender chunks in the most glorious beefy gravy and was served with a well seasoned mash, Savoy cabbage and carrots.

THE ROBIN HOOD - CLIFTON REYNES (OLNEY)
Jonathan Adriaenssens is one of my favourite chefs in the MK area and last year The Robin Hood won Favourite British Restaurant at the CIRCUS Awards.
"Why is he one of your favourites?" (I hear you ask.) Not only do I love his cooking, Jon really does put his money where his mouth is when it comes to sourcing truly local produce and working with as many reputable independent food and drink suppliers and producers as possible. I've said it before and I'll say it again; what Jon doesn't know about food and drink isn't worth knowing!

During Lockdown part 2 he is running 'Friday Pie Nights' and is serving up some truly gorgeous gourmet creations such as:

For the very first CIRCUS Independent Food & Drink Awards in 2019, the catering was provided by the catering students @ The Brasserie @ MK College. The team was headed up by Sarah King and George Spires who also now run Inspires Dining and Cornwall Place Kitchen in Buckingham.
And what was on the menu? PIES! And let me tell you, they went down a storm!
So with pies being these guys passion - and they do them so very well indeed - they are now touting their wares to the wider general, foodie loving public for YOU to enjoy!

I've got a huge amount of respect for Cymon Derry, the landlord and chef of The Bull, Towcester as this is a man who is passionate about sourcing the best ingredients and delivering only the best for his customers. As a result, since launching at the beginning of this year, he has earned a fantastic reputation and The Bull in Towcester has become THE place to go for good pub classic food.
Every day Cymon will be creating the *Chef's Special Homemade Pie of the Day served with real chips and seasonal vegetables for just £9.

This beautiful, historic gastro pub situated on the outskirts of Towcester opposite the racecourse is also award winning, scooping 2 awards at The Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards in 2017/18 for Great Service and Restaurant of the Year. When you start perusing their menus and pictures on social media and reading their customer reviews it's easy to see why!
During Lockdown part 2 they are offering a takeaway Price Fix Menu and featuring is their homemade Steak & Kidney Pie.
Slow braised steak and kidneys cooked in a rich gravy with a crisp puff pastry crust and served with sauteed local vegetables and buttered mash or hand cut chips @ £14.95 for one course.
The Price Fix Menu is only available on Saturdays and Sundays when they also serve roast.
